UPHS Convention Committee

Purpose:

To oversee the selection of future convention sites and the smooth operation, based on standard guidelines, of the UPHS annual convention. This is an on-going committee.

Committee Update (August 1, 2013):

Currently finishing the planning for the 2014 UPHS Convention in Ogden, UT. The dates for the 2014 convention is set for July 30 through August 2, 2014 at the Summit Hotel in Ogden. Future updates are available on the UPHS.org website at https://uphs.org/conventions/current-convention/ .

A joint convention with the Chicago & North Western Historical Society in Omaha, NE is being considered for Omaha, NE in June of 2015. More information will be forthcoming in the future.

Sacramento, CA is being looked at for 2016

Denver, CO is proposed for 2017

A host city in the Pacific Northwest, perhaps Portland, OR in 2018.

Ogden, UT is being considered again in 2019 to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the driving of the Gold Spike at Promontory Summit, UT.

 

UPHS Mission Statement

The purpose of the Union Pacific Historical Society is to gather, preserve, and disseminate historical photos, documents, and information relating to the employees, management, equipment, facilities, traffic, and operations of the Union Pacific Railroad including its predecessor and subsidiary lines for the benefit of our members and the public.
