Membership Information

The Union Pacific Historical Society was founded September 1,1984 in Denver, Co. The purpose of the society is to collect, organize, distribute and publish information relating to the operation and equipment of the Union Pacific Railroad. Although the Society is interested in publishing and preserving material from all time periods, most of the material relates to the 1920-1980 period.
The UPHS publishes a quarterly publication, "The Streamliner". The magazine's editorial staff tries to balance articles on motive power, rolling stock, structures, oral history, and operation in each issue. "The Streamliner" is a high quality publication that has had color in every issue since Volume 1 Number 3. As the UPHS is a volunteer organization, publication dates may vary from the expected publication date.
Regular memberships include four copies of "The Streamliner", commencing with the quarter in which your membership is received. Membership cannot be back-dated.
Sustaining memberships for those individuals who wish to be recognized as a contributor to the Society will have their name published in "The Streamliner" annually and will receive their copy of the magazine by first class mail, rather than bulk mail, and if in good standing as of October 15th each year, will recieve a Union Pacific Historical Society calendar.
The UPHS board of directors is elected by the membership. The Board members are nominated by the membership at large and serve a period of three years. The results of the mail ballot are announced at the Society's annual convention.
The annual meeting of the Society is held during the summer in a city on the Union Pacific system. The convention generally has programs on the UP, tours of facilities, model and photographic contests as well as the business meeting. The meeting dates are announced in THE SECOND SECTION of "The Streamliner" and there is a mailing to members several months before the gathering with registration information.
The Union Pacific Historical Society is not supported by, nor affiliated in any way with, the Union Pacific Railroad.
